In 2002 Khambo Lama Dashi-Dorzhi Itigelov’s body was taken out of his grave. He died 75 years ago. As scientists claim, the organic of his body is similar to that of an alive man. There is no explanation for such preservation quality. This phenomenon has attracted scientists from different parts of the world. One can see the body of Itigelov in Ivolginsky Datsan and they bring him out on special days. Thousands of people are coming to bow before the holy body as it emits mysterious energy. After one meets Khambo Lama he gets state of tightness and peace.

Open-air Ethnographic Museum of Transbaikalian Peoples

Ethnographic museum was founded in 1973. The museum is famous for its unique exhibits. It includes historic settlements making up six complexes: archeological complex, the Evenk’s one, those of the Buryats at Baikal and the Russian cossacs and the City complex. The zoo represents animals living in Buryatia: bears, wolves, foxes, lynxes, tigers and many different kinds of other birds and animals.

Ulan-Ude – Posolskoye – Ulan-Ude

One day tour on a bus to Lake Baikal. On the way Troitsko-Sergievsky and Posolsky cathedrals.
Posolskoye village was founded in 1653. It is situated on the shore of Lake Baikal. One side of the village faces the Big river and the Posolsky Sor Bay. Three and a half centuries ago there was killed Tsar’s ambassador, his son and seven his people. He was Yerophey Zabolotsky. In memory of those events Posolsky cathedral was built in 1681.
In summer tourists may watch how local fishermen get Baikal omul (fish) by special hand-net.

Ulan-Ude – Oimur - Enkhaluk – Sukhaya

Enkhaluk is situated on the shore of Lake Baikal. It is the popular place for tourists. “Enkhe” means peaceful, quiet. The place has a very beautiful and picturesque landscape, endless Baikal spaciousness, big and small rocks and forest. Down here there is a good opportunity for having a rest, enjoying the starry sky, taking part in fishing, boating, riding horses and swimming in thermal springs.
From Enkhaluk there is one day tour to cross the Baikal to the Small Sea (Olkhon) on a motorboat and a several day tour.
